The purpose of food is to supply the body with nourishment so that it may operate. Nutrients are essential to unite with oxygen to make energy for all purposes, including constructing and fixing cell tissue and for physical activity.
But food and nutrition do not always go “hand in hand.” And without nourishment, the body can not function its best. Vitality and Health suffer.
Definition of Nutrition
Nutrition means. To nourish means “to nourish or sustain with substances essential to growth and life.” Not everything that’s known as “food” contains nutrition! And just because a product has a nutrition facts label, that is no guarantee that there is any nourishment in it. That is why “junk food” is known as “crap” – since it has a great deal of calories but no real nourishment – no nutritional value!
Nutrition: Macronutrients and Micronutrients
The nutrients that the body requires energy and to provide the building material for cells, tissues, muscles, hormones, hormones, etc. etc. (all bodily construction and physiological processes) are broken into two groups: Macronutrients and micronutrients.
Macronutrients are known as “macro” (meaning “big”) since they form the largest proportion of the nutrients the body needs to function. The macronutrients are:
- Fats (also known as lipids)
- Protein and
Micronutrients are known as “micro” (meaning “little”) because they are required by the body in tiny quantities. The micronutrients are:
- The body requires all of these nutrients in amounts that are balanced to achieve physical health and also to operate at its finest.
Food and nutrition
Before the arrival of fast and convenience foods, nutrition and food was not an issue. Food WAS nutritious! Interesting how there are epidemics of diabetes, obesity and several other health problems because the quality of our food supply has deteriorated. Food processing and convenience foods not only robs food of the majority of its value, but the additives, additives and preservatives which may be found in food is poisonous to the body.
Food, nutrition and health
Learning the basic facts about the nourishment (or not) in food and how it contributes to wellness (or does not) is most likely the smartest thing somebody could do to improve their health and vitality. Believe me, there are truckloads of myths and data about nutrition and food that keep people from enjoying energy and better health.
Food makers with advertising and their marketing make things worse! It appeals to emotions and our taste buds, but food takes a toll on energy and health.
